Routine
grooming and cleaning is as important for our pets as it is for us: it improves their appearance, helps to prevent diseases
and contributes to their overall well-being.Bathing should be done on an "as-needed" basis. Frequency
depends on the individual pet. Never use a shampoo intended for human use. A dog's skin is much more sensitive than human
skin and can cause serious skin irritations. It may also cause excessive drying of the hair coat and flaking of their
skin.Ears are an important part of pet hygiene. The ears should be examined routinely and if your dog has
excessive hair, dirt, or wax build-up, they must be cleaned. Keeping the nails trimmed contributes
to the health of the paws and also ensures that your pet will be comfortable when running and walking. Failure to keep nails
clipped can, in some cases, result in in-grown nails, which can become infected and painful.
When grooming your Chinese Crested Hairless
The Chinese Crested Hairless Dog has skin and some have body hair and others do not, rather your
crested is a True hairless or an Ideal Hairless they all need to be groomed to some degree. I am a breeder and groomer of
Chinese Crested and all my adult Hairless Crested have the nicest skin. These are the steps I take to insure My Cresteds skin
stay Healthy.
1.a weekly bath
2.Every two weeks I shave my Hairless regardless off the amount of body hair. When shaving first I remove any excess
body hair with a Andis 2 speed clipper and a 40 blade, or you can use a palm pet trimmer witch I am using in the video. Then
I follow up by shaving there skin with A mens Gillette as seen in video, this helps ex-foliate the skin.
Grooming your Powder Puff
The Powder Puff shares the crest and build of the Hairless, but in addition has a full coat of long, silky hair.
It usually requires brushing about once a week to maintain a fresh groomed look. The look of the Powder Puff varies according
to how it is groomed. When its fur is completely grown out on its face, it strongly resembles a terrier; however, the Powder
Puff is usually shaved around the snout as a standard cut. Its fur is incredibly soft and shedding is minimal. Due to its
coat type, both Powder Puff and Hairless are considered good pets for allergy sufferers .
